Coordinated Campaign Director

Summary: This senior-management-level position is responsible for developing and executing all elements of the Texas Democratic Party’s 2024 Coordinated Campaign. This person will help to build and manage a statewide voter contact infrastructure and will play a critical role in the efforts to win significant victories for Democrats up and down the ballot.

A strong candidate will have the skills and experience necessary to manage a diverse set of stakeholders, develop and execute a data-driven organizing program, and manage critical direct mail and digital communication components. This individual will also have a demonstrated ability to manage, mentor and develop staff while working in a high-pressure environment. This position reports to the Executive Director, in coordination with other party principles and partners. 

Responsibilities: 

  • In consultation with partners and stakeholders, develop and implement the 2024 Texas Democratic Coordinated Campaign plan.

  • Direct all day-to-day operations for the Coordinated Campaign.

  • Oversee the hiring and training of all Coordinated Campaign staff, as well as the day-to-day management of all senior staff members and direct reports. 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven statewide organizing plan.

  • Create systems to track and analyze the data and metrics of the organizing program, and make changes as needed. 

  • Oversee the creation and execution of digital and direct mail voter contact plans.

  • Build and manage all aspects of the 2024 Coordinated Campaign budget and cashflow.

  • Provide stakeholders and partners regular updates on the progress of the Coordinated Campaign

  • Work directly with stakeholders and partners to build out fundraising and revenue plans and hold partners accountable for their fundraising goals and commitments.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least three cycles of organizing and campaign management experience or comparable political or advocacy experience. Senior-level experience on a statewide campaign strongly preferred. Experience overseeing a program’s budget and cashflow is a strong plus.

  • Applicant should have experience managing political stakeholder/partners and building collaborative programs.

  • Experience recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring and managing a team of paid staff and volunteers.

  • Must be a strong leader able to inspire and motivate staff and campaigns, as well as work collaboratively with peers, direct reports, and stakeholders. 

  • A strong and demonstrated commitment to building a diverse and inclusive team. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs;

  • Reliable transportation is required for frequent travel up and down state

Salary And Benefits:  Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The Texas Democratic Party offers medical, vision, and dental insurance. Employee’s insurance premiums are paid fully by TDP. This is a cycle-only position.

Coordinated Campaign Regional Organizing Director

Summary: This position is responsible for creating organizing programs in key communities in Texas. Regional Organizing Directors will help to build key organizing infrastructure, work with local partners to create a large and active base of volunteers, and build critical relationships with local party officials and stakeholders. 

A strong candidate will have the skills and experience necessary to motivate and inspire a team of organizers and volunteers, and the drive necessary to execute an aggressive direct voter contact plan. This position reports to the Coordinated Campaign Organizing Director. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Recruit, train, manage and support a team of volunteers and ultimately organizers for the region. 

  • Plan, lead and execute grassroots activities for volunteers such as canvasses, phone banks, and relational organizing efforts. 

  • Quickly build and grow the local volunteer infrastructure.

  • Support and guide organizers in your region to ensure they meet and exceed their goals.

  • Serve as the local representative for the TDP within the community you are assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinated Campaign Organizing Director. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least one cycle of organizing experience. Experience managing organizers, volunteer leads, or organizing interns is a strong plus.   

  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed goals.

  • Ideal candidate should have experience working with political stakeholder/partners and building collaborative programs.

  • Must be a strong leader able to inspire and motivate staff and campaigns, as well as work collaboratively with peers, direct reports, and stakeholders.

Data Analyst

Description:

The Texas Democratic Party is currently seeking applications for a Data Analyst.  This person will have a role in designing, building and maintaining all our data products, which include but are not limited to a Bayesian partisanship model, various reporting dashboards, and statewide targets. They will be responsible for working directly with campaigns, other departments, county parties, and allied organizations to promote the adoption of these products. 

This position will report to the Deputy Director of Data and Analytics, and will be on the Data team, working in close collaboration with other teams. This is a cycle-only position, with employment through November 2024. This is an in-person, union-eligible position located in Austin, Texas, and will include some nights and weekends.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Use SQL to assist in the creation of various data products 

  • Respond to various ad hoc analytical requests with informed, data-based analysis

  • Developing and interpreting data visualizations

  • Provide data support to other internal teams

  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Skills: 

  • Experience with SQL & either Python or R in political data science contexts

    • Familiarity with Google Apps Script or shell scripting is a plus

  • Experience using political data to solve problems 

    • Familiarity with BigQuery and Portal is a plus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • A commitment to working at the Texas Democratic Party through November 2024

VAN Assistant

Description:

The Texas Democratic Party is currently seeking applications for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and creative VAN Assistant. This person will be responsible for assisting campaigns and county parties across Texas with VAN, including advising on targeting and troubleshooting technical issues. 

This position will report to the Deputy Director of VAN, and will be on the Data team, working in close collaboration with other teams. This is a cycle-only position, with employment through November 2024. This is an in-person, union-eligible position located in Austin, Texas, and will include some nights and weekends.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Responding to email help tickets and maintaining/improving the help ticket system

  • Writing and updating support documentation

  • Learning the VAN CRM and using it to provide strategic advice to campaigns, county parties, and other users

  • Creating VAN accounts and managing the invoicing process

  • Other data/tech duties to support geographies/districts, including VAN administration, creating phone banks, managing texting programs, and more

  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Skills: 

  • Experience using Google Sheets 

  • Interest in advancing technical skills - especially in becoming a Google Sheets expert or learning SQL

  • Experience with Votebuilder/VAN or voter contact tools is a plus

  • Experience using FreshDesk, Airtable, and/or Asana is a plus
